Investment firm InCred Alternative Investments, backed by KKR, is making waves in the private equity space with the launch of its first Category II alternative investment fund. Named InCred Growth Partners Fund-I (IGPF-I), the fund aims to invest up to INR 500 Cr in privately-owned companies across various sectors at Series B and C stages.
This marks InCred’s third alternative investment strategy following the successful launch of its Structured Credit Fund and Liquid Quant Fund strategies. With the addition of the private equity strategy, InCred now offers a comprehensive range of alternative funds for high-net-worth individuals, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and institutional investors.
IGPF-I will be led by Vivek Singla, an alum of IIT Delhi and IIM Lucknow. Singla believes that now is an opportune time to launch a private equity fund, as private market valuations are at realistic levels and there has been a significant shift in founders’ mindset from focusing solely on growth to prioritizing profitability.
The fund aims to maintain a concentrated strategy by investing in a select number of companies where it has a high conviction. Singla stated that they plan to invest in no more than 7-9 companies, allowing them to closely nurture the relationships with their portfolio companies and provide hands-on support.
InCred’s Founder and Group CEO, Bhupinder Singh, expressed excitement over the launch of the private equity strategy, highlighting the unique investment opportunities it will bring to their investor base and its potential to foster entrepreneurship.
With this latest venture, InCred is positioning itself as a powerhouse in the alternative investment space, catering to the evolving needs of investors and founders alike. As private market valuations continue to take a more realistic approach, it will be interesting to see how IGPF-I leverages this shifting landscape to generate targeted returns for its investors while supporting the growth of promising companies.
